Nebulisation is a technique in which small droplets of aerosolised medicine are generated by a special device and inhaled by the horse.
Nebulisation with Flexineb is an alternative as well as an additional method of administering medication, but not only medication and also saline and other natural remedies can be nebulised.

What are the benefits of nebulizing?
No loss of the active ingredient – ​​the nebulized liquid arrives directly where it should be – the lungs. This means that medicines don’t have to make a detour through the digestive/circulatory system (which can lead to unwanted side effects under certain circumstances).

The nebulization can be carried out quickly and easily yourself. This gives the advantage that you can treat your horse easily and without outside help if necessary.

If you do not need to nebulize medication, but want to nebulize your horse preventively, a nebulizer such as the Flexineb offers the possibility to bring the special climate of “salty sea air” to your horse, which can have a positive effect on the respiratory tract and remove of mucus.

With a nebulizer, the horse owner can easily take care of the airways and lungs of his horse. The device contains a mask that fits on the nose and a technological means to generate a fine mist.

Older technologies are based on a compressor that is connected to the electricity. Newer technologies are ultrasonic devices, while the most modern devices (eg Flexineb E3) contain a vibrating piezo component. Each of these technologies can generate the fine mist that directs the mist directly into the airways and ultimately the lungs.

The piezo effect
The Flexineb works via the so-called piezo effect. In the medication cup, the inhaled liquid is mechanically sifted through a vibrating membrane (similar to powdered sugar, which is shaken through a sieve). The result is a super fine mist with optimum particle yield. This nebula is so small that it also reaches the smallest lung areas (71% of the nebulized particles have a particle size of 5my, 39% between 2 and 5my, 23.75% between 1 and 2my). In this way, the medication is optimally absorbed by the lungs.
